The trek begins

Movers come tomorrow for the move to Winnipeg and so I'll likely have a slow week while things get set up out west. The only questions remains is: What to listen to on the drive. It's about 22 hours plus stops via the U.S. so I'm thinking that there's no time like the present to do the Ring back to back. My first live Ring was the COC's and so I know what I'm getting myself into. Any other suggestions? Good traveling opera music?

Good luck for the move! May your belongings behave, customs people be cheerful and friendly, and your journey smooth.

Although I TOTALLY wouldn't recommend listening to the Ring en route! If I listen to Wagner whilst driving, my foot inevitably slams hard down onto the accelerator as I sing along manically, and I can get to frightening speeds before I realise what I'm doing. I was discussing this with other singers just a couple of days ago, and we all agreed that Wagner mde us speed madly! You have been warned...

That said, I normally like to leave opera to the times I can concentrate on it anyway, and drive to something cheerful. If it were me, I'd be thinking, hmmm, new Pink Martini album just out... :-)

Bon voyage!
